Michael's and Gabriel's creature

My nephews are at it again.

Some time ago, Michael had imagined a creature that he called the Inkermink.  Being the artist that I am, I naturally drew it for him and thus brought his vision to life.  Well, this time his younger brother Gabriel is helping him out.  Together they described a new type of creature.  Here are the exact features they envisioned:

Sharks for hands

Cars for feet

Pants made of eyeballs

Eyes made of hair

Hair made of feet

Fingers made of thumbs (thumbs made of belts)

Ears made of glasses

Face made of a football 

Brain made of TV (pops his brain out to watch tv)

And so, immediately down below is the result:

So there you have it: Michael's and Gabriel's own creation in all it's glory.  Personally I think they're ready to work for Nickelodeon, don't you?  I will now leave you all with the two of them having fun at Christmas time.  Enjoy!

Sold in stores now

As of today, my new book Censor Monkeys Have No Class is officially available for purchase in stores.  In the very wet city of Halifax, there are two specific stores have agreed to aid me in my quest to unleash this cautionary tale of mine onto an unsuspecting public.  So far, they are:

Giant Robot Comics - 114 Woodlawn Ave, Dartmouth, NS 

Monster Comic Lounge - 2091 Gottigen St, Halifax, NS 

Right now, those are the only stores in the entire world that contain my latest book............................... that I know of!!!

Is my book in your local store?

Well, there's only one way to find out.  You need to walk right in there and ask.  Just start by simply saying "Do you happen to have that new comic book sensation sweeping every nation Censor Monkeys Have No Class?"  If they say yes then you've hit paydirt.  Buy your copy and enjoy.  But if they answer with either "no" or "what the dang are you talking about?" or give some pretentious nerd-rage excuse for not carrying it then you must demand it be in their store.  

Shout out loud if you have to.  Shout and shout until the entire place turns blue and then you most likely pass out or something.  If that store doesn't carry my book soon after that then they are not a store worth frequenting ever again.

I would also like to use this post to remind everyone of my launch party comic up on November 3.  It will be at the Economy Shoe Shop located at 1665 Argyle St. in downtown Halifax.  If you purchase a book either at the event or anytime before then, you get 10% off of all food and drinks the entire night.  That's a pretty good deal.  Please join the event on Facebook if you have not already done so.  See you there.

Inkermink

I haven't talked about my nephew on this blog for quite a while, not since he was a baby.  Well, he's 4 now.  So of course he's walking and talking and saying some amazing things.  Here's a picture of him (I think) saying one of those things now:

And, like most kids that age, he possesses a great imagination.  Recently, through his mother (my sister)  on Facebook, he sent me a drawing request.  Here it is italicized:

When it is convenient, Michael would like you to draw him a picture of an "Inkermink".  It has a BIG mouth with a zipper underneath on its belly, where it keeps its rubarb.  Under the zipper it has a BIG eye. It has no ears. The "Inkermink" is dark green and with bouncy legs as it runs very fast all over the place. It can eat the rubarb directly from his zippered belly. It can jump very high.


It loves to sing "everybody Inkermink"


Those were the directions I was given.  Therefore, without too much ado, I now present my interpretation of Michael GermainRichards creation, the "Inkermink"!

Imagine trying to hold a conversation with this creature while maintaining "eye" contact.  It would feel so wrong.  Well, anyway, here's the Inkermink.  I hope it's everything my nephew envisioned.

Really, every artist should have a 4 year old nephew or niece with a creative imagination.  It makes your job and profession so much easier and fun.  Embedded below is some video of him displaying just a snippet of his imagination.  Enjoy!

On the air live in 3, 2, 1...

Exactly two weeks from today, I will be broadcasting live on the radio. The good people at station CKDU 88.1 FM in Halifax Nova Scotia have graciously allowed me to go on their station to promote my book Jesus Needs Help. I'll be on a program called The Book Club on June 14 at 1:30 pm Atlantic Standard Time until 2:30 pm. The host is one Stephen Clare, a very articulate young man who will no doubt ask me the hard questions to make me sweat a little but yet still keep things nice and friendly. If your radio is strong enough to pick up that station's frequency, definitely feel free to listen in. If you can't pick up the signal in your area, not to worry. The show will be available for podcast immediately afterwards. Just search the CKDU website through the archives, you're sure to find it.




Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been advertising my book here or anywhere else in the passed few months. That's mostly because I've been kept busy with something else, mainly helping my sister out by babysitting her kids / my nephews every day since mid April.

That's them. Their names are Michael and Gabriel. Couldn't you just stuff them into an over-the-shoulder tote bag and feed them pellets? (I may do that with them on Thursday). That's what's been occupying my time as of late. I've hardly had any time for much else. That should change in a few weeks when I'll be back home and able to concentrate on things better. Who knows how I'll be promoting my book in the next few months. Maybe one of you good folks reading this blog post have a suggestion (Just keep it clean and try not to use too many synonyms for guano).
